Hitler the rise of evil movie
Hitler, the rise of evil - the movieHugh wanted to watch this. I hate watching any Hitler movies. Hitler kicked my family out of Germany because my grandfather wouldn't take part in the war, wouldn't fight and didn't support what Hitler was doing. They were given 48 hours to leave the country, a one-way ticket out, one suitcase for each person and that's it. It split the family. My father came out with his father, stepmother, and stepsister. The other kids stayed behind in Switzerland with friends of the family. My father only found out about his other stepbrother some 50-odd years later when he was living in Germany doing a foreign attache job in Bonn. I suppose if Hitler didn't do this, I would not exist because my mom and dad wouldn't have met and wouldn't have married. So who do I have to thank?
My dad died earlier this year. Click here for some pics of him and my mom when they got married. Wilfrid Wilker in memoriam

Fur - An imaginary portrait of Diane Arbus
Fur is a very strange movie indeed. Diane Arbus is supposed to have been one of the best photographers of the last century. This is a story of how her life might have been, the thoughts and experiences she may have had. If you don't like weird, this will probably not be for you. I found it intriguing and engrossing. Nicole Kidman plays the leading lady. Opposite her plays a man with a very hairy condition - hence the name Fur The other double-feature movie we watched was Blott on the landscape. A hilarious story of an British lady who wants to stop people from building a highway through her large estate in the country, and is helped by her gardener who uses some unconventional methods to assist her. Great fun. I don't like violence so the other two Tarantino movies Kill Bill and Kill Bill II don't get my vote. Its about killing start, middle, end, and in between with hardly a story (also available in Blu ray Kill Bill Box Set). We had a bit of a video week this week. We also watched Volver with Penelope Cruz. This was a rather strange movie, but well worth watching. I don't want to give the game away. Intriguing. |

I love animated Movies
I suppose it is the 'child' in me that loves the sheer magic of animated movies where the imagination is tantalized...mine is anyway.
This weekend I watched Guardians of Ga'Hoole
A story about owls, obviously, as all American movies, a fight between good and evil. Guess who wins. The movie is based on stories by Kathryn Lasky Legend of the Guardians, The Owls of Ga'Hoole.
Another absolute favorite of mine is Ice Age about a friendship between an unlikely pack; a mammoth, a saber-tooth, a sloth, and how they look after a human baby, the weird things they get up to on their adventures, and then the really funny squirrel-like creature with his acorn. I won't say any more because that will be giving away the story.
The other movie I watched was Take the Lead with Antonio Banderas. This is not an animated film, but a dance film; another passion of mine. The film is about a new form of dancing that is fusion between the classical and avant garde that develops when the the students and teacher work together to create something that everyone can enjoy.
